Float House Story

Welcome to Float House, one of the largest float centers in the world!

We are an independent, local business created out of passion, enthusiasm and a belief that floating, as a practice, can help the majority of people who decide to lie down in a float tank. The float tank (isolation tank or sensory deprivation tank) is an amazingly simple yet powerful tool that can enhance ones overall living experience. Whether you use it for personal development, physiological benefits, psychological benefits or a combination of sorts, we believe it has the ability to deeply aid and impact anyone who sets forth into the warm, cozy, silky blackness.

We wanted to provide a service that was affordable, useable, practical and inspiring. Amongst any other alternative and holistic health practice we believe floating in a true sensory deprived environment is second to none. We wanted to create a center with multiple tanks in a public space so that more people can discover them and have easy access. We believe Float House has accomplished this.

Our rates and memberships are comparable to the most reasonably priced float centers in the world. We are located just an 8 minute walk from Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver which is accessible from all over the lower mainland.

A message from the Founders

founderThe entrepreneurial pursuit within an unregulated and relatively unknown industry is one of great commitment, patience, adaptation, excitement, and discovery. For us bringing floating to Vancouver has been as much of an internal journey as an external one.

In late 2010 we tried floating and recognized the benefits of it immediately, we purchased a tank and began sharing the experience with as many people as we could. We then embarked on the pursuit of our first ever entrepreneurial venture, a process that has taken about 2 years for us in one form or another. Whether it was cultivating the confidence and self-belief that we could actually do this, to working extensively with the Ministry of Health in Victoria in developing float regulations, educating a landlord to understand what we are trying to do in order to secure a space, to discussions with various other municipality questions and regulations; we always kept our vision in the forefront of our minds as a healthy obsession. We were absolutely determined to create this venture because we both knew 1) how awesome floating truly is and 2) the only thing we would regret would be not trying. That would have been the only failure. One of our mantras throughout the entire process was:

“We cannot fail, we can only learn and grow.”

Thank you for thinking outside the box, thank you for being open to something different. Our commitment is to deliver the best floating experience possible. Our hearts are filled with gratitude, thank you!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a clean, relaxed, and unique environment where people of all walks of life can practice deep meditation, manifest creativity, and foster rest and recovery by use of the floatation tank.
